Advocacy
The Housing Action Collective @ FPGROC
who We are . . .
The Housing Action Collective (HAC) is a group of concerned community members using our collective power to identify and advocate for housing solutions for all. At its core, the Housing Action Collective believes that homelessness is solvable within our community. We came together in the spring of 2024 when a few emergency shelters closed, and others reduced their bed availability due to inadequate funding. Meanwhile, homelessness continues to surge across Monroe County. While focused on immediate solutions to end homelessness, we also address the broader housing crisis. Therefore, we support a comprehensive range of housing solutions, from ending unsheltered homelessness, to strengthening tenants’ rights, to providing landlords resources, to promoting home ownership.
We conduct community forums on homelessness to educate residents on the scope, cost, and causes of homelessness, all with the aim of advancing solutions to the housing crisis. Using targeted advocacy efforts, we create digestible data briefs for community use and suggest action steps that community members can take if they want to be part of the solution.

SOLUTIONS
No single solution can solve a decent, affordable housing shortage. Lasting change requires a coordinated approach that addresses both immediate needs and systemic barriers. Therefore, our advocacy efforts prioritize strategies that are achievable, impactful, and require collective action to move forward.
